I got the best Valentine’s day bouquet! I was over at our p-patch and our winter kale was looking great. We started this kale from seed last spring and it is still going strong.

And late winter into spring is when our kale thrives. We finally have more than 10 hours of daylight in the Pacific Northwest and the kale seems to know that spring is around the corner. In just the next month or so the kale plants will have sweet shoots of kale rabe (imagine broccolini but on a kale plant).

Despite the snowstorms over the last few weeks, a healthy kale bouquet makes me excited about spring.
