High Tunnel
On our first day working with the 21 Acres Farm Manager, he put us to work building a high tunnel (greenhouse). We were excited! One of our primary goals is to grow year-round. And even in the relatively mild northwest high tunnels will be a valuable tool to produce throughout the winter. High tunnels also give you a head start on summer crops, allowing you to put tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, and basil in the ground even as the cool drizzly spring drags on.
We very carefully squared off a 100’ by 10’ plot. We redid our corners several times, making sure we had a perfect 3, 4, 5 triangle. Apparently, this was a little overkill since we were later told that +/- 1 foot is great!
We worked hard! Pounding stakes, hauling heavy plastic sheets, wrangling with an ornery ball of twine. It took us 9.5 hours and we were so proud of ourselves when we finished. And the thrill continued when we peeked in a week later, felt the temperature rise 15 degrees and saw 4 long rows of tomatoes.

Love seeing you guys out in the field!
This is so fantastic. Can’t wait to see what you produce.
This is so awesome! I’m finding it to be a good summer for gardening in Seattle. Come over and consult on my backyard micro-farm one evening?
Impressive! So cool to work so hard and see it all come together.
I just love you two!
